Why
should a paddler who enjoys day paddling and
the occasional overnight camping trip have
to paddle a kayak designed for multi day expeditions?
Our
response can be found in the Mystic.
A kayak with all the performance characteristics
of a hybrid sea kayak complemented by the
length and storage capacity of a kayak specfically
designed for the "overnighter". Equally at
home on open water or secluded bays, the Mystic's
efficient, dry stable 14' hull allows this
kayak to carve through the water with minimal
resistance, leaving you plenty of energy,
for around the campsite.

Mystic's light weight and 14' length makes this kayak
popular for smaller paddlers with lighter loads. It
is easily carried on land and incredibly responsive
in the water.
Standard
features on the Mystic are retractable skeg,
two large watertight storage compartments, custom
back strap, easy entry keyhole cockpit with thigh
grips, recessed deck fittings and decklines. |

| Designed
in the U.K., the Montauk
is a sleek, sea worthy and stable craft, the 22"
beam combined with a moderately chined hull profile
provides a high degree of initial stability, while
allowing the paddler to lean the kayak when turning
or carving down the face of a wave. The modified
Greenland style bow and stern ensure that you stay
dry in the harshest of conditions, while minimizing
the effects of a beam wind and sea.
If
you are looking to paddle for the weekend or circumnavigate
Iceland the Montauk is the kayak for you.

Finally
a performance Greenland style boat that is
easy to paddle. The Currituck
combines our greater initial stability
with an easy to carve 21.5" width to give
you a stable boat that still bleeds performance.
At 17 feet the Currituck has great hull speed
for long crossings, and the maneuverability
to handle big water challenges. Standard
with 2 large oval VCP hatches and a round
VCP day hatch, fitted with our "on demand"
adjustable back band and designed with a recess
for the Nexus 70p compass, no detail was overlooked.
Whether putting in long miles on a mountain
lake or skating through wave washed caves,
the Currituck has the performance to take
you to the edge and the comfort to keep you
there.

| Hull
Design- |
Shallow
V. The shallow V hull is standard in all
Impex Kayaks and it is this design that allows for
the greater primary stability in our kayaks. We
have found an excellent compromise between stability
and performance that allows our kayaks to appeal
to all ends of the ability spectrum.
Rocker-
All Greenland style kayaks will have increased rocker,
this what gives these boats the versatility that
makes them special. Our High Performance Line has
a flatter rocker, which gives it better hull speed
and tracking for touring. The rocker is enough to
turn with a paddle stroke on a lazy paddle, but
get this boat on edge and it has the maneuverability
to explore the tightest spots in the local creek
or race confidently down the biggest wave face.
|
| Chine- |
Medium.
A Medium Chine allows the kayak to have excellent
secondary stability while edging the kayak, maintaining
the comfort and stability that we all demand. This
feature allows the paddler to edge the boat confidently
to obtain a fast turn, without the potential of
tripping over hard chine’s. Paddlers of all
ability levels and explorers of all water conditions
covet this design.

We
are proud to introduce for the first time
in composite lay up, the Outer Island
- designed in 1995 by paddler/designer Jay
Babina, with performance, rolling ability,
low windage and speed as the main criteria.
At 18 feet long, only 21 inches wide and
with very little hull rocker, it has loads
of speed for touring. It's low rear deck
makes it a perfect fit for the beginner
to the advanced Eskimo roller. Soft chines
allow for graceful control between steady
primary and secondary stability, allowing
for increased success even when perfecting
the most challenging Greenland rolls and
braces. Whether you love this kayak for
its sheer elegance, fast touring, or as
a rolling machine, we promise you 'will'
love it.

Rocker
- the flatter rocker of the Outer Island is
what gives this kayak its amazing hull speed.
Harder to turn in the tight spots due to the stiffer
hull, it is certainly a compromise. However as
your skills grow the Outer Island comes around
with grace and you can never say enough about
the speed. |
| Chine- |
Soft.
A Soft Chine, while still giving excellent stability
on edge, allows for smooth transition from primary
to secondary stability. It is this trait that
allows for this kayak to be such an easy kayak
in which to practice and master even the hardest
traditional Greenland braces and rolls.

The
rebirth of a classic. The Susquehanna
has been the ultimate all-purpose sea kayak
since the inception of Impex kayaks over 10
years ago. Redesigning with two large oval
rubber hatches and an 8 in round day hatch,
we have given paddles the confidence they
demand. At 22 1/2 " wide this boat has
amazing initial stability without giving up
performance. The key to the Susquehanna's
allure is the additional hull rocker. Easy
maneuverability in a 16' 6" kayak appeals
to both the entry level kayaker, as well as
the big water paddler looking to surf with
confidence. From tight wooded creeks to precision
rock garden surfing, the Susquehanna has the
ability to take on whatever mother nature
can throw at it.
As always with our "On-Demand" adjustable
back-band, new for 2005, we have added the
outfitting our customers have asked for:
