Whether you are a novice or experienced paddler you will ultimately enjoy the Irie or Irie Basic .  At the cottage or out on open water the Irie's playful characteristics have finally bridged the gap between recreational and touring.  The large roomy cockpit with an ergonomically contoured seat, combined with more than ample storage in the stern compartment might turn that casual paddle around the lake into a weekend excursion.  The Irie's multi-chine hull design grants confidence, inspiring responsiveness and predictability never felt in such a small kayak.

Hull Design-

Shallow V. The shallow V hull is standard in all Impex Kayaks and it is this design that allows for the greater primary stability in our kayaks. We have found an excellent compromise between stability and performance that allows our kayaks to appeal to all ends of the ability spectrum.

Rocker- All Greenland style kayaks will have increased rocker, this what gives these boats the versatility that makes them special. Our High Performance Line has a flatter rocker, which gives it better hull speed and tracking for touring. The rocker is enough to turn with a paddle stroke on a lazy paddle, but get this boat on edge and it has the maneuverability to explore the tightest spots in the local creek or race confidently down the biggest wave face.

Chine-

Medium. A Medium Chine allows the kayak to have excellent secondary stability while edging the kayak, maintaining the comfort and stability that we all demand. This feature allows the paddler to edge the boat confidently to obtain a fast turn, without the potential of tripping over hard chine’s. Paddlers of all ability levels and explorers of all water conditions covet this design.

If you had to choose a touring kayak that handles rough water with ease while carrying a weeks worth of camping equipment, or be equally at home in the shelter bay of your local lake, then the Diamante is the Kayak for you! With design drawn from the traditional Greenland kayak and modified to suit the requirements of today's Sea/Touring paddler, we have created a no compromise, functional craft.

The efficient hull design combines a balance between lateral and longitudinal stability. For the paddler, this means a kayak which does not feel "tippy" but secure. Standard features are a two easy access hatch storage system with two bulkheads, retractable skeg, an ergonomically designed keyhole cockpit with thigh grips, recessed deck fittings, decklines and a custom backstrap.

Lightweight and simple is the key to this little boat's success. For smaller paddlers this kayak offers the same efficient hull as the Gale , yet without the added weight and expense of a front bulkhead and hatch or skeg. Keeping this kayak down to only 38 pounds allows many smaller paddlers the ability to be independent in carrying and loading their kayak. Still keeping the comfort of our "Points of Contact" Outfitting this boat is not a cheap kayak, just a simple, more modest version of our Performance Line boats. For those paddlers where strong wind keeps their boats on the shore and an expedition is once around the closest island on the pond, the Sea Breeze could be the right choice.

The Gale was designed for smaller paddlers who still want big sea kayak performance. At 14' long and 21.5" wide it is a perfectly downsized sea kayak. It finally allows smaller paddlers, especially women, the ability to have a boat that gives them the fit they demand but the ability to keep up with even the heartiest group of paddlers. By keeping the rocker flat and the beam narrow, we have developed a short lightweight kayak with a very efficient hull. Outfitted with a round composite hatch in the front, and a large composite hatch in the rear, this boat has great overnight appeal. A retractable skeg is standard for the days when the weather just won't cooperate, and a 14-foot kayak can be affected with a strong beam wind. Built with the Impex philosophy of greater initial stability, this boat gives a very comfortable ride without sacrificing performance. Just because you need a small kayak doesn't mean you have lesser needs from your outfitting. No detail has been overlooked in this small package. The Gale is a more modesty priced, composite hatch, version of always popular Mystic.

The Serenity was designed based upon experiences of paddlers from the Coastlines of Canada and the rugged shorelines of Georgian Bay and Lake Superior. Based upon the incredibly successful Diamante, the Serenity accommodates the needs of paddlers who require enhanced storage capacity for extended trips, or increased cockpit dimensions and cock pit capacity for those who find other designs too restrictive.
In designing the Serenity, we have been able to create a kayak which performs under all weather conditions without compromising the paddler's sense of pleasure or security regardless of the kayak being fully laden or in ballast.
At 17'6" the extended waterline promotes "speed with ease" and increased tracking abilities, while retaining the nimbleness and sensitivity of a smaller kayak. The moderately upswept bow provides sufficient lift, to allow the kayak to rise over oncoming waves and provides bow buoyancy when surfing down the front of a wave. A dry paddler is a happy paddler!
The Serenity is a fully equipped Sea/Touring kayak, with a three watertight hatch storage system, retractable skeg and "European" style deck rigging system.

The Venture gives small to medium sized paddlers a perfect choice within the Formula Series. For lighter weight, and a more modest price tag, the Venture is outfitted with 3 composite hatches, giving unmatched access to storage for extended camping trips or the gear happy day boater. With great tracking, this fast 16 footer gives paddlers who enjoy longer trips the option of a smaller, easy to maneuver kayak. The Venture, with its composite hatches, allows for a very light weight kayak at only 47 pounds. There are certainly other options in this size range of kayaks, however after you experience our combination of stability, performance and construction the Venture becomes the clear choice. The Venture is a more modestly priced version of our Performance Series Montauk.

"The more the merrier"
Who ever came up with this famous quote was certainly onto something. There is something to be said for being able to share with friends, family and loved ones something we are so passionate about. Like the rest of our line we have come up with an easier to paddle and handle double. There are several great expedition doubles out there, so why try and clutter things with another version. Short, narrower and certainly lightweight, the Temiskawa allows more people to enjoy the benefits of Tandem paddling on a less than expedition size trip. By no means turning our backs entirely on tripping, we do offer over 9000 cubic inches of storage capacity, however we feel the 86-pound weight and short 19 feet 8 inches will be the stats that appeal to our customers. Although shorter, at only 25.5 inches wide there is an efficient water line that moves along well and keeps its hull speed even with paddlers of different strengths and during alternating paddler rests. As in most doubles the length and width make it difficult to turn with leaning and paddle strokes. To accommodate easier maneuverability we use the benefit of a foot controlled rudder system, for easier paddling. Impex Kayaks has worked hard to create a unique line of kayaks, we feel the Temiskawa is a great fit for those who don't see the need for alone time.

Rocker- Not needing a great deal of rocker for maneuverability, due to the rudder, we went a good bit flatter to increase the glide and efficiency of a slightly flatter and much wider hull.

Chine-

Medium. A Medium Chine allows the kayak to have excellent secondary stability while edging the kayak, maintaining the comfort and stability that we all demand. This feature allows the paddler to edge the boat confidently to obtain a fast turn, without the potential of tripping over hard chine’s.
